‘Good Luck To You, Leo Grande’ Trailer: Emma Thompson Stars In Crowd-Pleasing, Sex Positive Comedy Hitting Hulu This June

Sexual awakening, the need for human connection, the desire to feel loved, these things happen at all stages of life. While the movies tend to focus on the younger end of the spectrum, there’s always a demand for stories that draw in mature audiences. One of the breakout hits of this year’s Sundance does just that. Good Luck to You, Leo Grande was quickly picked up by Searchlight Pictures after its world premiere, and a new trailer is here to show just what the fuss was about.

Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack star in the film about a retired widow who hires a young, male sex worker for a night of fun and romance. The film was directed by Sophie Hyde (Animals), from a script by English comedian Katy Brand, who wrote it with Thompson in mind.

Reviews were hot coming out of Park City, with the crowd-pleaser quickly becoming an audience favorite. Our writer Cortland liked the film a lot, saying in her review “Hyde smartly shows the ordinary side of sex work and the unseen sexuality of women over 50 to explore the generational divide between a sex-positive millennial and a sexually reserved older woman. Yes, we see more of Thompson than we ever have seen before but with Hyde’s direction, the choice feels natural and empowering.”

Good Luck to You, Leo Grande is a Hulu exclusive debuting on June 17th.
