‘Kill Bill 3’: Maya Hawke Responds To Quentin Tarantino’s Dream Casting

Kill Bill 3 rumors will persist until it actually happens or Quentin Tarantino is dead in the ground. They’ve been going on for years, and most of the time it’s Tarantino himself who is spreading them. Like just this past summer when he discussed the possibility of Uma Thurman returning as The Bride aka Beatrix Kiddo, with her grown-up kid B.B. played by Thurman’s actual daughter, Stranger Things star Maya Hawke. Sounds like a damn good idea, if you ask me.

Well, Hawke has some thoughts on the idea which she relayed to The Guardian, and basically, she says it’s up to QT to figure all of that shit out but she’s down for it.

“There are always rumors about that. Quentin is on his own darn schedule. He’ll do what he wants when he damn well wants. But I’ve known him my whole life, and if he ever wanted to work with me again, of course, I would love to.”

So, Hawke is on board. You know Thurman will do it. So what’s up, QT? What’s the hold up?

Chloe Zhao Reveals Early Version Of ‘Eternals’ Had Two More Heroes

There are always stories about superhero films that in earlier versions of the script had heroes that ended up on the cutting room floor. Shit, Zack Snyder teased fans for two years with characters he had to cut. Well, it turns out that Chloe Zhao’s Eternals, which introduces ten brand new heroes to the MCU, could have had twelve.

Speaking with Fandom, Zhao revealed that two additional Eternals were in an earlier version but she “had to let two go along the way.” Who they were is unclear, but it could have been just about anyone. but my personal favorite, El Vampiro who is a vampire AND a wrestling luchadore, should have been the first one included. I can only assume this means he’s getting a Disney+ series somewhere down the line.

Still, ten heroes is quite a lot to handle, but she and screenwriters Ryan and Kaz Firpo and Patrick Burleigh sorted it all out…

“Some characters don’t need the most screen time, it’s about what they do with the screen time. They have to be memorable. And when we looked at these 10 unique individuals, we thought about how they represent 10 aspects of human nature. They’ve been here for so long, who they become today is a big part of who we are. And so it was actually equally important that they remain memorable. All 10 of them had the same weight; not necessarily screen time, but the weight.”

Eternals opens in theaters on November 5th.

‘Oppenheimer’: Robert Downey Jr. And Matt Damon Join Christopher Nolan’s Next Film

Christopher Nolan is not messing around with the cast of his Oppenheimer film, as it’s looking to be one of the best he’s ever put together. Already set to have Cillian Murphy in the title role, and with Emily Blunt in talks to join him, Deadline reports that Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon close to signing on, as well.

Details on their roles are unavailable at this point. Murphy will play J. Robert Oppenheimer, a critical figure in the Manhattan Project that led to the creation of the atomic bomb. Blunt will play his wife.

Damon and Nolan worked together previously on Interstellar, while this is a first time for Downey who has been pretty busy with franchise stuff over the last few years.

The film is adapted from Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin’s book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer.

Oppenheimer will be distributed by Universal, the first time in years that Nolan has worked outside of Warner Bros., with the reason stretching back to the poor release strategy for Tenet and the latter decision to open films simultaneously on HBO Max. That’s not something he’ll have to worry about when Oppenheimer opens exclusively in theaters on July 21st 2023.

Marvel’s ‘Eternals’ Is Certified “Rotten” On Rotten Tomatoes, An MCU First

Well, Marvel Studios has entered fresh new territory after more than a decade and 26 movies. Eternals, which has the benefit of a star-studded cast, a grand concept, and Oscar-winning Nomadland director Chloe Zhao, is officially declared “Rotten” by the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Ouch.

Now, for the record, I won’t actually see it until tomorrow and have not added my two cents, but this is obviously bad news. Even the movies declared the worst of the MCU have fared better; Iron Man 2 sits at 72%, Thor: The Dark World is at 66%, and The Incredible Hulk has 67%. My least favorite Marvel movie? 2011’s Thor? It has a whopping 77%.

Eternals currently sits at 57% and it dropped like two points while I was typing this. So yeah, this ain’t good. To attain a “Fresh” rating a film must be over 60%. Seems like a pretty low bar to cover, doesn’t it?

Reviews have been mixed from pretty much everyone I know who has seen it. Nobody is wildly enthusiastic over it, nor overly harsh. To me, the biggest shock is that this is a Chloe Zhao movie and it may steer her clear from comic book stuff for a while.

Eternals opens in theaters on November 5th.

New ‘Morbius’ Trailer Has Jared Leto’s Antihero Joking That He’s Venom

If you’ve been poo-pooing Sony’s Marvel Universe flicks, the mid-credits scene in Venom: Let There Be Carnage probably made you take notice. It teases what fans have been hoping for all along, and perhaps should have known was inevitable, that a crossover between Sony and Marvel Studios is in the works. And that makes all of the movies Sony has coming up suddenly more interesting, like the next one: Morbius.

Starring Jared Leto in another weirdo role, he plays scientist Michael Morbius, who turns into an antihero with vampire-like abilities after his experiment to cure a deadly blood disorder goes haywire.

I’m not going to sit here and act like this film has me excited at all, other than teases of Michael Keaton’s Vulture and a direct link to Venom, seen at the trailer’s conclusion.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa and co-starring Adria Arjona, Tyrese Gibson, Jared Harris, and Matt Smith, Morbius opens on January 28th 2022.

Animated ‘Garfield’ Movie To Have Chris Pratt Voicing The Fat, Lasagna-Loving Cat

When I think of Garfield, Jim Davis’ beloved, lazy, lasagna-eating orange cat of comic strip fame, I don’t imagine his voice sounding like Chris Pratt. And yet, the Guardians of the Galaxy star will turn feline in an upcoming animated movie from Paramount Pictures.

First announced more than five years ago, the Garfield movie will have Pratt adding to his extensive list of voice credits. Everyone loved his work as Emmett in The Lego Movie, but also as Barley in Pixar’s Onward, and soon he’ll voice Mario in a Super Mario Bros. movie for Nintendo. I feel like I’m missing one.

Garfield will be directed by Mark Dindal (Chicken Little) from a script by David Reynolds, who previously co-wrote Finding Nemo.  Dindal and Reynolds previously worked together on The Emperor’s New Groove.

I think it’s safe to say Garfield is the most successful comic strip ever. First appearing in 1978, the strip would run in thousands of newspapers and reach hundreds of millions of readers. It continues to be synidated widely this very day. Not only that, but Garfield launched two long-running TV shows and a pair of live-action/animated movies in which Bill Murray voiced the famous feline. Combined they made $343M worldwide and led to multiple straight-to-DVD films and video games. He’s even a float in just about every major parade in the country.

Details on the film are unknown, but we can bet the fat, cynical cat will be making life miserable for his owner, Jon Arbuckle, and tongue-wagging idiot dog Odie. [Deadline]

‘The Boondock Saints III’ Is Happening With Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery, And Troy Duffy Reuniting

The McManus boys are back and ready to rampage on the silver screen once more. Somehow, someway, The Boondock Saints III is a real thing that’s happening, and it will reunite stars Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery with director Troy Duffy.

The Boondock Saints became a cult classic when it was released in 1999, racking up a reported $50M in video sales. There isn’t an Irish friend of mine who didn’t swear it was the greatest damn movie ever. The story followed Irish-American brothers Connor and Murphy MacManus who become vigilantes in their hometown of Boston after dispatching some Russian mobsters. The film launched an unfortunate sequel a decade later after being delayed numerous times.

This new film was penned by Duffy and Flannery, who are also listed as exec-producers with Reedus.

Where the story picks up we don’t know, but The Boondock Saints II ended with the McManus brothers in prison while rioters protested outside the jail. Duffy told Deadline

“The fans have loved these characters for twenty years. “They use terms of endearment like ‘the Brothers’ or ‘the Boys.’ We left them in jail at the end of Boondock 2 and fans want to know what happened to them. Norman and Sean have been a driving force to keep this franchise on track and break some new ground story-wise. The fans have been waiting. They literally ask about it daily, and I am really excited to be working with Impossible Dream to make Boondock III a reality.”

The Boondock Saints will perhaps always be best remembered for Duffy’s epic flameout as a director, captured in the documentary Overnight. He hasn’t directed another movie, although he did write the atrocious Pauly Shore comedy Guest House just last year. Both Flanery and Reedus have remained busy, with the latter obviously becoming a superstar for his role on The Walking Dead. Flannery has a role coming up on hit series The Boys.

Shooting on The Boondock Saints III begins next May. Honestly, I’ll believe it when I see it. All three of them have been talking up this sequel for nearly a decade.

Pop! Obsession: Go Back Down The Rabbit Hole With ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ Funko Pops

Funko has re-entered the Matrix. Of course, there was a line of Funko Pops for The Matrix already, which is when I got my Morpheus one, but with The Matrix Resurrections right around the corner it’s time to go back down the rabbit hole.

The first wave of Funkos for The Matrix Resurrections includes the new version of Morpheus played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, plus Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity. Cool thing about these? They’re actually different from the first figures, reflecting the new look of the movie and their respective ages. You can also get a Glow-in-the-Dark Neo exclusive, and a purple-jacketed Morpheus that you can get only from Target.

The other new figure is a Walmart exclusive for Neil Patrick Harris’ Analyst.

I’ll wait eagerly for Jessica Henwick to get her own Funko as Bugs, and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Niobe.

Some of these are exclusives and you can find them at their respective retail stores. The rest are available right now to preorder from Entertainment Earth.  Any commission that we earn from purchases through our affiliate links goes back into the site. We are a small group and every little bit helps. Thank you so much for all of your support!
