Over a decade before creatures took over the world in A Quiet Place, Thomas Jane was dealing with his own possible apocalypse in The Mist. David (Thomas Jane) and his son Billy (Nathan Gamble) are trapped in a grocery store by a thick mist with some other people from their small town. Coming from the mind of Stephen King this is of course no ordinary mist, there are terrifying monsters hidden within it. Before long hysteria begins to take over the store. David realizes that not only does he have to fear the creatures outside in the mist, but his fellow townsfolk as well. The Mist leaves you on the edge of your seat and has a ton of memorable scenes – including an ending that will be burned into your memory.

A Quiet Place developed a world where the slightest sound could be your last. There was an eerie silence throughout, making for quite the memorable viewing experience. Hush is a film that creates a similar atmosphere, but for vastly different reasons. The film follows Maddie Young (Kate Siegel), a deaf and mute author who lost her hearing when she was a teenager. Maddie was way ahead of the social distancing curve, living in seclusion in a house in the woods. One fateful evening a masked figure appears in her window – focusing on Maddie as their next victim. As the evening goes on, this psychopath goes to greater and greater lengths to torment Maddie. Hush is an interesting take on the typical slasher film and has a ton of tense moments from beginning to end.
