There are few better than Clive Barker to take us on a twisted journey of the macabre, and Hulu is getting in on the bloody action next month with Books of Blood. And judging by this first trailer, there will be tons of the red stuff flowing. The Hulu Original film is based on Barker’s vintage anthology, and tells three unearthly stories that cross the supernatural with the laws of space and tim. Britt Robertson, Rafi Gavron, Anna Friel, Yul Vazquez and Freda Foh Shen lead the cast.
Behind the camera is Star Trek veteran Brannon Braga, who also exec-produces alongside Seth MacFarlane. Braga and MacFarlane worked together on The Orville and Cosmos.
In one story, Anna Friel plays a debunker mourning the death of her 7-year-old son, until she meets a ghost-whisperer who claims to be in contact with him.
Britt Robertson plays a woman suffering from misphonia, which is an extreme sensitivity to sound. When her mother threatens to send her away to a mysterious place known as “The Farm”, she steals mom’s money and absconds to Los Angeles.
Yul Vazquez is a hitman looking for that last big score that will let him retire and be with his wife. But, as we all know, the final job turns into a shit show, and the hired killer finds he’s trapped in a terrifying battle with the supernatural.
Hulu will debut Books of Blood on October 7th.
