‘My Policeman’ Trailer: Harry Styles Stars In A Story Of Forbidden Love And Heartache

Oh hey, it’s that “gay policeman” movie, the other film Harry Styles is in that is getting far less attention (and negative headlines) than Don’t Worry Darling! Debuting in theaters next month and on Amazon Prime Video in November is My Policeman, a complex film that finds Styles in the most dramatic role of his young acting career, and possibly an awards contender.

Directed by veteran British director Michael Grandage (Genius), the film stars Styles as Tom, a closeted gay cop in 1950s Britain, a time when being homosexual was essentially illegal. Tom marries a woman, Marion, as he is expected to do, but he is really in love with a man, a museum curator named Patrick. Forty years later, the trio are reunited and still feeling the impact of decisions made long ago.

Joining Styles in the cast are Emma Corrin (The Crown), and David Dawson (All the Old Knives), with Gina McKee, Linus Roache, and Rupert Everett as older versions of the main trio. The film is produced by The CW’s Arrowverse creator Greg Berlanti, who continues to tell back interesting love stories for the LGBTQ community, as he did with Love, Simon.

My Policeman will premiere soon at TIFF, before hitting theaters on October 21st and Prime Video on November 4th.
