We now have a date for the epic Monsterverse rematch of a lifetime! Warner Bros. has announced that Godzilla vs. Kong 2 will crash into theaters on March 15th 2024. It was learned previously that filming is expected to begin later this year in Australia.
Details on the untitled sequel have been kept under wraps by WB and Legendary. What we do know is that director Adam Wingard will return for a reunion with The Guest star Dan Stevens. But what’s up with Godzilla and Kong? Will they actually throw down, or what? Godzilla proved himself to be the stronger of the two last time, but it was Kong who got the happy ending in Hollow Earth. Rumors are the sequel is where we’ll be introduced to the Son of Kong.
Godzilla vs. Kong was a powerhouse performer during the pandemic, earning $468M worldwide despite a day-and-date theatrical/HBO Max release. The film was the culmination of numerous MonsterVerse storylines that began with 2014’s Godzilla and continued in Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. A television series dedicated to the monster tracking squad Monarch is in the works.
