Live-Action ‘Godzilla’ MonsterVerse Series Adds ‘WandaVision’ Director Matt Shakman

How fitting that Legendary’s MonsterVerse is growing in such a way. With a sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong in the works, and recently adding some star power with Dan Stevens, there’s also the live-action TV series on Apple TV+ to consider. And now that Godzilla and the Titans series has a very high-profile director.

Variety reports WandaVision filmmaker Matt Shakman will direct the first two episodes of Godzilla and the Titans for Legendary and Apple TV+.  This is an especially hot time for Shakman as he was recently hired to direct Star Trek 4.

Here’s a synopsis for the show, which will center on the secret monster-tracking group known as Monarch.

“Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the untitled series explores one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.”

It’s unclear if previously-seen members of Monarch will be part of the spinoff. It’s also unclear if this will impact Shakman’s work on Star Trek 4, but that film has enough problems already.
