‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ Super Bowl Spot Reveals That Disney Charm

I was worried we’d have a trailer-less SuperBowl this year, but thankfully I was wrong. The spots up to this point have been great and the new look at Raya and The Last Dragon continues the trend. The first looks we’ve had have been heavy on lore and looks showcasing a gorgeous film that is steeped in ancient stories from the land of China, Disney is all about repurposing time honored tales after all…it’s just nice their finally branching out from Germany in the last decade.

This, longer, spot brings two totally awesome new angles to the upcoming animated feature, action and comedy. Awkwafina, who voices the titular last dragon, seems to be the source of most of the funny but there are some great little moments sprinkled throughout. Most importantly to the Disney fan writing this was the look at the action that’s going to be featured. You can’t have a film like this without some solid Martial Arts, and it looks like they knew this. There is one amazing scene with Raya entering what looks like a throne room leading up to a big showdown. While the shots are quick you can see some definite Wing Chung happening in the scene. As we recently posted, Disney has started pre-orders for the March 4th premier which is hitting both theaters and Disney+, Disney+ subscribers can own the film for $30 as part of the ‘Premier Access’ program.

Check out the trailer below and look for Raya and The Last Dragon on Disney+ and in theaters on March 4th.
