‘Black Widow’: David Harbour Thinks A VOD Release Would Be “Fun”

It Ain't Happening, Despite What Some Sites Are Already Saying

David Harbour wasn’t always an actor sought after for interviews, but now the Stranger Things and Hellboy star can’t keep his mouth shut. Lately, he’s talked about the latter film and blamed fans for its failure, saying they unfairly compared it to Marvel. The irony is that he’s also been chatting up his upcoming Marvel film, Black Widow, and what he wishes would happen with it now that theaters are shut down due to the coronavirus.

Answering questions during an Instgaram Q&A, Harbour gives his opinion about Black Widow and whether it should go straight-to-streaming. This, obviously, will not happen…

“My publisher also sent me an email saying ‘Black Widow’ had been postponed and I think I replied ‘shocker’. Wouldn’t it be fun if we all could just stream it? But that’s above my pay grade.”

I mean, wouldn’t it be easier? Absolutely. But Disney would be insane to pass up on the potential $1B payday Black Widow is likely to get in theaters. There aren’t enough Disney+ subscriptions out there to make up for that kind of lost money.

Harbour’s words don’t mean Disney is even considering this option, by the way. That SHOULD go without saying, but I’m sure there’s a site out there making more of this than it is, and that means a certain segment of fans will, too. Oh yeah, here’s one now. Ugh. It’s just a glimpse into Harbour’s view on the Black Widow situation. That’s all.

Gal Gadot Promises “Brighter” Days Ahead With New ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Poster

Warner Bros. tried a wait-and-see approach to Wonder Woman 1984‘s release date in June, but ultimately decided to push it back a couple of months to August 14th. That immediately makes it one of the biggest releases of the late summer…assuming the date holds, which is still very much in doubt. Who knows if the industry will be back to normal by then? In the meantime, a new poster wants to remind you of the colorful superhero sequel we’re all in for when theaters finally reopen.

The new Wonder Woman 1984 poster is very much like some we’ve seen previously. It’s very vibrant, pastel-colored, and very ’80s, as it should be. This is a smart, targeted campaign that’s being run and I think when theaters reopen we are going to see crowds race to see Diana (Gal Gadot) in a retro world of big hair-helmeted villains (like Pedro Pascal’s Maxwell Lord and Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah), track suits (like the one Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor sports), and MTV.

Check out Gadot’s reveal of the motion poster along with a few heartfelt words to accompany it.

Kevin Smith Has Made A ‘Jay And Silent Bob Reboot’ Commentary Available Free On Youtube

I was a big fan of Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot last year, and now that it’s available on Amazon Prime highly recommend it. But one thing that sucks about the home release, whether it be digital, DVD, or Bluray, is that it doesn’t have a commentary track. Well, Smith has rectified that now, and it’s something his fans will want to check out.

Smith has completed a full commentary for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot while in quarantine, and he’s made it available for free on Youtube. Say what you want about Smith, but he’s always been someone who stays in close contact with his loyal fanbase. After years away from the View Askewniverse characters that made him so popular, it only made sense that he provide a full breakdown of the movie and what went into the star-studded comedy.

If you don’t know the plot, basically Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith) make another trek out to Hollywood to stop yet another film adaptation of their comic book alter egos, only this time with the knowledge that Jay has a daughter out in the world. Special guest stars include Ben Affleck, Jason Lee, Chris Hemsworth, Melissa Benoist, Justin Long, and just about everybody who ever appeared in a Kevin Smith movie.

The film has quietly broken a number of box office records ever since it opened last October, appealing almost exclusively to Smith’s fans who loved the 2001 predecessor Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. It’s totally a fan-service movie, so check it out if you’re someone who maybe fell out of love with Smith’s stuff in recent years.

‘SCOOB!’ International Poster Finally Reveals Captain Caveman

Unga Bunga!!

Sad news for Scooby-Doo fans earlier this week as Warner Bros. removed SCOOB! from the release schedule. With the pandemic going on out there right now it’s unclear when we’ll see the animated movie which is hopeful of launching a Hanna-Barbara cinematic universe. Trailers we’ve seen have introduced more than just Scooby, Shaggy, and the rest of Mystery Inc., but also Blue Falcon and his pal Dynomutt.

One character that’s been missing? Captain Caveman, who we know will be voiced by Tracy Morgan. Well, he’s now been revealed in a new SCOOB! international poster. His look is pretty faithful to the popular prehistoric superhero, although his club has been given an upgrade.

SCOOB! also features the voices of Zac Efron, Frank Welker, Gina Rodriguez, Amanda Seyfried, McKenna Grace, Will Forte, Mark Wahlberg, Jason Isaacs, Kiersey Clemons, Ken Jeong, and Iain Armitage.

SYNOPSIS: The first full-length animated Scooby-Doo adventure for the big screen is the never-before told stories of Scooby-Doo’s origins and the greatest mystery in the career of Mystery Inc. “SCOOB!” reveals how lifelong friends Scooby and Shaggy first met and how they joined with young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc. Now, with hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this global “dogpocalypse,” the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.

Watch ‘Batman V Superman’ With Zack Snyder’s Live Commentary Now!

This week marked the four-year anniversary of Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. To this day I’ll never forget being in the room at Comic-Con when this movie was first revealed; the feeling was like none other. Never had the two biggest heroes, three if you want to include Wonder Woman, been brought together on the silver screen. Ultimately, the movie was a disappointment at the box office (an $870M failure) and divisive among fans.

Snyder, who always has more to say about his DC Comics movies, is celebrating BvS with his fans right now on Vero. It’s there that you can follow him in a live commentary of the Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition, so he can go into detail on everything he feels he accomplished and hoped to accomplish.

The event started about an hour ago but there’s still plenty left to go. Check it out on Vero here, and if that doesn’t work there’s a livestream version on Youtube below.

‘The Main Event’ Trailer: WWE And Netflix’s Teamup Film Has A Kid Beating Up Superstars

Over the past year I’ve written and talked quite a bit about professional wrestling’s move back into mainstream cinema. It’s happened because of films like Fighting with My Family, and The Peanut Butter Falcon, both critically-acclaimed and box office success stories. And now we see WWE tag teaming with Netflix on The Main Event, a light-hearted family movie that looks like the pro wrestling version of Like Mike.

The Main Event centers on an 11-year-old wrestling fanatic who discovers a magical luchadore mask which gives him super speed and super strength. Using his newfound abilities he not only turns the tables on school bullies but enters the WWE and takes on the best Vince McMahon has to offer. Interestingly, it look like there’s intergender wrestling in this, too; something WWE hasn’t had in years.

Since The Miz has been running his mouth about the movie on TV for weeks, you will indeed find the Miz & Mrs. star in the cast, joined by fellow WWE superstars Kofi Kingston (on a shirt, anyway) and Sheamus. Damn, that’s three world champions in one movie. Other wrestling stars include Keith Lee, Mia Yim, Otis Dozovic, Rene Young, and Corey Graves. Leading the film is Seth Carr, along with Tichina Arnold, Adam Pally, and Ken Marino. Jay Karas (Teachers) is behind the camera.

So yeah, I’m all over this for obvious reasons. The Main Event hits Netflix on April 10th.

Ryan Reynolds In Talks To Star In ‘Dragon’s Lair’ Adaption From Netflix

Get your swords and shields ready and head to your nearest arcade because Dragon’s Lair is coming to Netflix. The streaming service announced today that Ryan Reynolds is in talks to star and produce a live-action adaption of the beloved 80s video game.

First released in 1983, the game centered on Dirk the Daring, a knight that must rescue Princess Daphne from a sinister dragon, aptly named Singe. The game was one of the first to bring a cinematic style to video games and even made an appearance in season 2 of Stranger Things.

THR reports Reynolds will produce the project with this company Maximum Effort. Roy Lee, producer of It: Chapter Two, will produce under Vertigo Entertainment and will join Trevor Engelson, under Underground Films. Dan and Kevin Hageman, who worked on The Lego Movie and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, will pen the script.

Though no release date has been given, you can catch Reynolds in the Netflix film 6 Underground.

Ryan Gosling Heads Back Into Space For ‘The Hail Mary’ From Author Of ‘The Martian’

Ryan Gosling is headed back into outer space. Deadline reports Gosling is attached to produce and star in an adaptation of The Hail Mary, a sci-fi film based on the new book by Andy Weir. If Weir’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he authored The Martian, which became an Oscar-nominated movie with Ridley Scott and Matt Damon.

The Hail Mary, which MGM is dropping big money to secure the rights to, would star Gosling as an astronaut one a one-man-mission to save the planet. As you probably guessed, it’s expected to be very similar in style and tone as The Martian, so expect lots of thrills and tech stuff that science nerds can pick over.

The timing on this says a lot. While Hollywood is basically curled up into the fetal position, MGM is throwing down a reported 7-figure deal to land The Hail Mary. That speaks to the level of confidence they have in this being a huge hit for them.

Kate McKinnon To Play Big Cat Lady Carole Baskin In ‘Joe Exotic’ Limited Series

Hey There, All You Cool Cats And Kittens!

It’s funny how the release of one wacky true-crime series can not only brighten our lives during this hard time, but change the way we look at a future movie production. Late last year, Kate McKinnon became attached to lead a limited series based on the second season of Wondery podcast Over My Dead Body. Ok, great. We all love McKinnon and it’ll probably be worth a look. But that podcast? It was based on Joe Exotic, the redneck entrepreneur and self-professed Tiger King who has become a phenomenon thanks to the Netflix series taking the country by storm.

McKinnon is set to play another of Tiger King‘s breakout wackos; Carole Baskin, the leopard print enthusiast, Big Cat Animal Rescue CEO, and possible murderer of her first husband. Baskin had made it her life’s mission to shut down Joe Exotic’s big cat zoo in Oklahoma, which led to all sorts of death threats, legal mumbo-jumbo, a couple of weird gay marriages, at least one amputation, some fraud, and that’s just the start of it. Honestly, if you haven’t watched Tiger King on Netflix you are missing out.

McKinnon will not only play Baskin but exec-produce the series. And all I need to do is imagine her uttering Baskin’s unforgettable “Hey there all you cool cats and kittens” and I know this is about as perfect as casting gets.

Now, as for who can play Joe Exotic, the mulleted, power-mad, rifle-sporting, cat breeding, gay (albeit married to two straight dudes), wannabe politician and all-around carnival barker, I can’t even imagine.
