It’s the beginning of a whole new era at Lucasfilm. Today marks the start of production on Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter. And as part of the big event, the full cast joining Ryan Gosling has been revealed, and it’s a doozy, including one Academy Award nominee.
Amy Adams and Aaron Pierre are the two biggest names joining Gosling, Mia Goth, and Matt Smith in Star Wars: Starfighter. The original film penned by Jonathan Tropper takes place five years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker and is not tied to that saga at all.
Also filling out the roster are actors Flynn Gray, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, and Daniel Ings. Gray takes the other lead role opposite Gosling, and the two are seen in the first set image from the film.
Adams is a multi-time Oscar nominee, and isn’t someone we generally associate with big blockbusters like Star Wars. That said, she’s starred as Lois Lane in Man of Steel, Justice League, and Batman v Superman, so she’s not exactly a stranger to them, either. Plus, this is a Disney production and she has been a favorite going back to her role in Enchanted.
Pierre was one of last year’s breakout actors with his performance in Rebel Ridge. Coming up next for him is playing Green Lantern John Stewart in the DCU series, Lanterns.
Star Wars: Starfighter hits theaters on May 28th 2027.
Here’s a statement from Levy about the start of production:
“I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on Star Wars: Starfighter. From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible Star Wars galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally. Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.”
