Ohhhh how I have waited for this trailer. Here’s how long, when this was first announced the premise spiked my curiosity so I picked up the novel the series is based on, Jack Carr’s The Terminal List, which kicked off his series of novels centering around former Navy SEAL James Reece. I LOVED the book and have since read the three follow-up novels in the series. Needless to say, I’m a fan.
Having read the books, there is one thing I will say about the upcoming TV show…I don’t think Chris Pratt is right for the part. Now, I am the farthest thing from a Chris Pratt hater. I think he’s a great actor and a better person, it’s that second part that causes trouble here. James Reece, the series protagonist, is NOT a warm and cuddly guy. He’s cold, calculated, and lethal in all the right ways…I just don’t see Pratt pulling those aspects off. He’s more “classic” Hollywood hero. You know the, “I’m gonna kill the bad guys, but I feel bad about it, I just want everyone to be happy”, type. Nope, Reece hates the situation he’s been put in but loves rectifying those wrongs through the precise application of ultra-violence.
That all being said, there’s no rule saying the show and book need to be similar. I do think this is a core truth of the novel, but I’m still checking in to see what they do with the story. If nothing else it looks like a solid military/spy action-thriller.
