Box Office: ‘The Batman’ Rockets To $249M Worldwide Launch

  1. The Batman (review)- $128.5M

If one thing has been made clear over the past few months, it’s that the big studio blockbusters, particularly those involving superheroes, are more than enough to bring audiences back into theaters. Warner Bros. has scored their best number of the pandemic era with Matt Reeves’ The Batman, earning $128.5M domestically, and $249M worldwide. The film got off to a rocket of a start on Friday with $57M, and hasn’t really slowed down. Obviously, this is the best opening of 2022, and a huge feather in the cap of Reeves, who has scored some big numbers in the past with Cloverfield ($172M) and two Planet of the Apes movies ($1.2B combined). This puts fuel in the Batmobile as Warner Bros. gets rolling on a sequel that’ll put Robert Pattinson back in the Bat-suit, and gives them options in expanding the franchise.
