Teen Titans Go! To The Movies wasn’t a huge hit at the box office, but the $52M it did earn looks pretty good against that $10M budget. That said, it isn’t likely to get a sequel in theaters, but a direct-to-video followup titled Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans looks crazy enough to make up for it.
Similar to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the Teen Titans are facing an alternate-universe threat made up of adult-aged versions of themselves! The wacky modern versions of the DC heroes take on their grim ‘n gritty 2003 counterparts from the beloved TV series. The differences between the childlike version and their darker selves makes for some hilarious confrontations. Of course, the two teams must eventually put their differences aside and face common foes, in this case the combination of Trigon, Hexagon, Santa Claus. Yes, that Santa Claus.
The voice cast includes Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Scott Menville as Robin, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Tara Strong as Raven, and Hynden Walch as Starfire. We’ve also got Sean Maher as Nightwing, Kevin Richardson as Trigon, Grey Griffin as Mrs. Claus, Rhys Darby as Master of Gamesand Weird Al Yankovic as Gentleman Ghost and Darkseid.
Teen Titan Go! vs. Teen Titans will get a home release later this year.
