The Long Walk duo of David Jonsson and Cooper Hoffman isn’t splitting up just yet. Deadline reports they will reunite for India Donaldson’s sophomore effort, The Chaperones, which is being set up at A24.
The film will have a screenplay by Sebastian Black, and follows three slacker friends who, days after Christmas, are hired to transport a troubled teen across the country.
Brad Pitt’s Plan B is aboard to produce, along with Robert Pattinson’s Icki Eneo Arlo.
So it’s another cross-country trek for Jonsson and Hoffman, but hopefully a lot less grim than The Long Walk, which is in theaters now. That Stephen King adaptation currently has just $25M globally.
Donaldson broke out last year at Sundance with her critically acclaimed debut, Good One, which Cortland reviewed here.
Jonsson has been on a roll for his performances in Rye Lane and Alien: Romulus. Next up for him is co-starring with Sydney Sweeney in Scandalous!, and with Tom Blyth in Wasteman which just premiered at TIFF. Next up for Hoffman is Maude Apatow’s directorial debut, Poetic License, which also had its premiere at TIFF.
The plan is for filming on The Chaperones to begin next month, so expect a release sometime in 2026.
