Thomas Haden Church Joins ‘Knives Out 3’ List Of Suspects

I’m gonna call it right now. We’ve found the culprit in Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. The one with blood on his hands will be Thomas Haden Church, who TheWrap reports has just joined the cast.

The amazing ensemble that Johnson has put together also includes the returning Daniel Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc, plus Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Josh Brolin, and Good Luck to You, Leo Grande actor Daryl McCormack.

Johnson will once again write and direct the whodunnit mystery, keeping plot details under wraps for the moment. As such, we have no idea who Church is playing but I’ve already told you he’s guilty. Isn’t that enough?

This has been described as Blanc’s most dangerous case yet, and Johnson has suggested a very different vibe than in the two previous Knives Out films…

“I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is,” Johnson said recently. “There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”

Church is probably best known for his role as Sandman in Spider-Man 3 and Spider-Man: No Way Home. But it was his 2004 performance in Sideways that earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He’s currently shooting part 3 of Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga.

Wake Up Dead Man begins production later this month and should hit Netflix in 2025.
