‘House Of Darkness’ Trailer: Kate Bosworth Flips The Script On Justin Long In Neil Labute’s New Thriller

After more than seven years away, filmmaker/playwright Neil Labute is having a busy year. Only days ago we debuted the trailer for his new film, Out of the Blue, which opens this August. But only weeks after that Labute returns with another, House of Darkness, which looks to combine the provocative commentary we come to expect from him, but wrapped in the Gothic horror genre.

Justin Long and Kate Bosworth star in House of Darkness, which almost looks like the inverse sexual politics of Labute’s In the Company of Men. Long stars as a player who thinks he’s in for a casual hook-up with a beautiful lady he’s just met, only to have the tables turned on him once they get to her secluded estate.

It’s easy to forget that Labute has dabbled in genre filmmaking before, most notably with the Nicolas Cage “classic”, The Wicker Man. So he should be right at home here, and certainly Long is no stranger with his roles in Drag Me to Hell, Tusk, and more. But judging by this trailer, Bosworth could be the one having the most fun.

House of Darkness opens in theaters on September 9th, followed by digital on September 13th.

Justin Long and Kate Bosworth star in this seductive thriller from director Neil LaBute (The Wicker Man). Driving home to her secluded estate after meeting at a local bar, a player out to score thinks his beautiful, mysterious date will be another casual hook-up. While getting acquainted, their flirtation turns playful, sexy and sinister. Hoping to get lucky, his luck may have just run out.
