‘Extraction 2’ Teaser: Chris Hemsworth Is Back In Action This Summer As Mercenary Tyler Rake

Here’s the thing about being part of the MCU: while it’s obviously amazing to part of such a gigantic global phenomenon, it hasn’t always translated to individual success. You can look at just anyone who has left (Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson) and seen that creating a hit franchise for themselves has been tough. But Chris Hemsworth has done it with a film that most expected to be a one-and-done. Released to Netflix in 2020, Extraction saw Hemsworth blasting his way through a military-style action-thriller and fans loved it. And now Hemsworth is coming back for more.

The first teaser for Extraction 2 has arrived, with Hemsworth back in the role of mercenary Tyler Rake. The character’s fate at the end of the first film was left ambiguous enough to leave the door open for a sequel, and Hemsworth, along with producers the Russo Brothers and director Sam Hargrave, have kicked that door down.

So what brings Hargrave back from the dead? Here’s the brief synopsis:

Chris Hemsworth stars as Tyler Rake, a highly trained operative taking on a dangerous new mission: rescuing the imprisoned family of a ruthless gangster.

Um, sure. Hey, these movies don’t need to be very complicated. They’re kinda old school in that way.

Also in the cast are Golshifteh Farahani, who returns as friend and fellow merc Nik Kahn, plus Adam Bessa, Daniel Bernhardt, and Tinatin Dalakishvili. The script was once again penned by Joe Russo.

Extraction 2 hits Netflix on June 16th.
