‘A Love Song’ Trailer: Dale Dickey Gets Her Shot In The Spotlight

It’s always great when a character actor gets their shot in the spotlight. At Sundance, Winter’s Bone and Hell or High Water‘s Dale Dickey starred in A Love Song, and the reviews of her performance, a rare leading role, were through the roof. With the romance drama arriving later this month, a trailer for the acclaimed film have arrived.

Dickey stars as a woman living in the rural West who anxiously awaits the arrival of an old flame, unsure of what his intentions are. At the same time, she’s embarrassed about what she hopes to get from his return.

If you’ve seen Dickey in the past, that perfectly-lined, expressive face of hers has often been used to play hard, even cruel characters. As effective as she is in that kind of role, it works equally well when playing someone more hopeful, and by all accounts Dickey is tremendous here.

The film also stars Oscar-winning actor Wes Studio (The Last of the Mohicans), Michelle Wilson, Benja K. Thomas, Marty Grace Dennis, and John Way. Max Walker-Silverman makes his writing and directing debut.

A Love Song opens on July 29th.
