‘Pain Hustlers’: Chris Evans Joins Emily Blunt In David Yates’ Big Pharma Thriller

The relationship between Chris Evans and Netflix must be going like gangbusters. Before his upcoming film The Gray Man hits the streamer this month, Evans has already signed on for another major Netflix project, Pain Hustlers, which was acquired at Cannes.

Deadline reports Evans has joined Emily Blunt in Pain Hustlers, a Big Pharma thriller from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts director David Yates. The script is by Wells Tower, and here’s the early synopsis:

Liza Drake, a high school dropout who, after dreaming of a better life for her and her young daughter, lands a job with a failing pharmaceutical start-up in a yellowing strip mall in Central Florida. Liza’s charm, guts, and drive catapult the company and her into the high life, where she soon finds herself at the center of a criminal conspiracy with deadly consequences.

The tone is being compared to topical comedies such as American Hustle, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Big Short.

Evans can be heard not seen right now in Pixar’s Lightyear. He also recently wrapped Dexter Fletcher’s adventure rom-com Ghosted.
