Similar to what they accomplished in 2007 with The Simpsons Movie, which went on to earn $536M worldwide, Fox has a feature-length Bob’s Burgers film on the way. I don’t remember Simpsons fans loving the movie all that much, nor did it have much impact on the series. Will things be different this time around? And will fans of Bob’s Burgers be up for paying to see what they can watch for free each week?
Hyped fans at WonderCon treatedto an early look at the new trailer over the weekend would suggest the answer is “Yes”. I’m not going to pretend I’ve ever watched more than 30 seconds of the show, so here’s the synopsis:
“The Bob’s Burgers Movie” is an animated, big-screen, musical comedy-mystery-adventure based on the long-running Emmy®-winning series. The story begins when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob’s Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family’s restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope and fight to get back behind the counter, where they belong.
Kristen Schaal, H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, Zach Galifianakis, and Kevin Kline provide the voices.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie opens on May 27th.
