Marvel’s Untitled Halloween Special To Be Directed By Composer Michael Giacchino

Marvel Studios tends to go through genre phases: they had an espionage phase for a while, followed by cosmic, and now they have clearly made the move into horror and the supernatural. Projects such as Blade and Moon Knight will help establish that darker tone, and another that will seemingly do the same is an upcoming Halloween Special on Disney+, reportedly to feature Gael Garcia Bernal as Werewolf by Night. Well, that special has just made a surprising choice as director.

TheWrap reports Oscar-winning The Batman composer Michael Giacchino will direct Marvel’s Halloween Special. There’s some question over how much the special will actually feature Werewolf by Night, or if it’ll be some kind of anthology will many different Marvel characters from the paranormal wing. Perhaps a Midnight Sons thing is going on? What’s clear according to THR is that it will not be titled Werewolf by Night.

Giacchino is certainly no stranger to Marvel, having scored five projects for them including the upcoming Thor: Love & Thunder. He’s also done some filmmaking, having directed a number of shorts including 2018’s Monster Challenge (with Patton Oswalt) and an episode of Star Trek: Short Treks.
