Chad Stahelski Would Be Open To Directing ‘Blade’ If Marvel Gives Him A Shot

If I told you one of the architects of the John Wick franchise wanted to make a Marvel movie, would you be down for it? The answer is probably “Hell yeah!” Well, Chad Stahelski, who directed all three of the John Wick films and already has a history with Marvel, would be interested in that Blade movie they’ve got coming up.

Speaking with Comicbook.com, Stahelski was asked about directing a film for Marvel in the future. While he didn’t say anything was in the works or anything, he does have his eyes set on a certain day-walking vampire antihero…

“If the opportunity ever came, the one that really jumps out to me would be like ‘Blade,’” the filmmaker said. “If they were going to redo ‘Blade’ or something like that, just because I feel that one, for some reason, the vampire martial art action vibe. That would be a cool one to stretch and try and reinvent.”

He continued, “Other than that, it’s like, look, I’ve got the ‘John Wick’ stuff. I’m really curious about what I can do with ‘Highlander’ and how I reinvent the hero worship stuff. Those fascinate me a lot. I just like more of the original properties that you can grow from as opposed to step into a number five or a number six. That’s all. Just choice.”

Before Stahelski became one of the most sought-after directors around, he and David Leitch worked with Marvel Studios as stunt/fight choreographers on two Captain America movies. Y’know, the ones that actually had awesome hand-to-hand fights? So given what we’ve seen there, plus the stuff he does for gunplay in John Wick, imagine how badass Stahelski could make Mahershala Ali look as Blade.
