‘The Bad Guys’ Trailer: Sam Rockwell, Awkwafina, Zazie Beetz & More Voice The ‘Suicide Squad’ Of Animal Criminals

In the new film Sing 2, if there’s a bad guy in the movie it would the character Jimmy Crystal, who happens to be…a wolf. We just naturally assume that wolves are evil, going off the well-known moniker “Big Bad Wolf”, but the same goes for other creatures with negative reputations.  Well, in the new animated movie The Bad Guys, those stereotypes more than hold true, but it doesn’t mean a leopard can’t change its spots.

The Bad Guys features the voices of Sam Rockwell, Craig Robinson, Marc Maron, Anthony Ramos, Awkwafina, Zazie Beetz, Lilly Singh, and Alex Borstein, and centers on a group of animal criminals who basically become their own Suicide Squad. They’ll use their criminal talents as a force for good in order to stay out of prison.

Making his feature debut is director Pierre Perifel, an award-winning animator who previously worked over at Dreamworks.

Universal will release The Bad Guys into theaters on April 22nd.

Never have there been five friends as infamous as The Bad Guys—dashing pickpocket Mr. Wolf (Academy Award® winner Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), seen-it-all safecracker Mr. Snake (Marc Maron, GLOW), chill master-of-disguise Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson, Hot Tub Time Machine franchise), short-fused “muscle” Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos, In the Heights) and sharp-tongued expert hacker Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina, Crazy Rich Asians), aka “Webs.” But when, after years of countless heists and being the world’s most-wanted villains, the gang is finally caught, Mr. Wolf brokers a deal (that he has no intention of keeping) to save them all from prison: The Bad Guys will go good. Under the tutelage of their mentor Professor Marmalade (Richard Ayoade, Paddington 2), an arrogant (but adorable!) guinea pig, The Bad Guys set out to fool the world that they’ve been transformed. Along the way, though, Mr. Wolf begins to suspect that doing good for real may give him what he’s always secretly longed for: acceptance. So when a new villain threatens the city, can Mr. Wolf persuade the rest of the gang to become … The Good Guys?

‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ Trailer: Michelle Yeoh Stars In New Sci-Fi From ‘Swiss Army Man’ Duo

EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE- How do you make something like the multiverse feel intimate and personal? The Daniels found a way with this insanely creative, side-splittingly funny universe-spanning adventure where the stakes are one family's ability to be themselves around one another.

Even though SXSW doesn’t kick off for another few months, the fest has already announced that Everything Everywhere All At Once will make its world premiere there as the Opening Night film. Why is this such a big deal? Because it’s the next feature from Daniels, the co-directing duo behind cult favorite Swiss Army Man.

Starring the great Michelle Yeoh, Everything Everywhere All At Once is weird, hopeful sci-fi of the sort we have come to expect from Daniels, who separately are filmmakers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. Also in the cast are Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr., James Hong and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Here’s the synopsis: Directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, collectively known as Daniels, the film is a hilarious and big-hearted sci-fi action adventure about an exhausted Chinese American woman (Michelle Yeoh) who can’t seem to finish her taxes.

Everything Everywhere All At Once premieres at SXSW on March 11th, and will open in theaters two weeks later on March 25th.

‘The Book Of Boba’ Fett Teaser Gets You Ready For An Underworld Power Struggle

(L-R): Temura Morrison is Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen is Fennec Shand in Lucasfilm's THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT, exclusively on Disney+. © 2021 Lucasfilm Ltd. & ™. All Rights Reserved.

Some sites are calling this 30-second spot for The Book of Boba Fett a trailer, but that’s insane. This brief bit of footage focuses on Temuera Morrison, back suited up as the Mandalorian legend, and Ming-Na Wen as assassin Fennec Shand.

What we see is that Boba Fett has different plans for how he’ll rule Tatooine’s criminal underworld in the wake of Jabba the Hutt’s death.  Choosing respect rather than fear might sound good, but it invites others to want to move in and challenge Fett’s leadership. Expect the bulk of the series to center on the power struggle that will erupt.

Details on the casting have remained scarce, but we have seen Jennifer Beals playing a twi’lek of some stature. That’s about all we know. Robert Rodriguez has directed several of the episodes, along with Bryce Dallas Howard, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and more.

The Book of Boba Fett debuts on Disney+ beginning December 29th and will run for seven episodes.

There’s just one hitch: They first have to persuade the world’s most reclusive rock star—played by global music icon Bono, in his animated film debut—to join them.

First Look: Nicolas Cage As Nicolas Cage In ‘The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent’

I don’t know if there’s a more anticipated film for a certain segment of people than The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Why? Because it basically sounds like the film Nicolas Cage’s career has been building to all of this time. He plays as a heightened, fictional version of himself, who gets embroiled with a super-fan (played by Pedro Pascal) who also happens to be a crime boss, who Cage also happens to be investigating secretly for the government.

Oh yeah, and did I mention that Cage will begin taking on the traits of some of his most iconic roles?

This bit of bat-shittery is brought to you by writer/director Tom Gormican, along with Cage’s co-stars Neil Patrick Harris, Tiffany Haddish, Sharon Horgan, and Lily Sheen.

Speaking with EW, Cage said, “It’s an invented version of Nic Cage. The character is feeling unfulfilled and contending with the rejection that can happen so often in the small town that is Hollywood. It’s not me. I’m feeling pretty good about things…Javi has a wax statue of Nic and you think, ‘Oh, it might be awkward between a film star and a fan. But they’re both cinephiles, so they’re having wonderful conversations about ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’ and ‘Paddington 2.’”

I will say this; this sounds like exactly the kind of attitude Cage would have. When I spoke with him for Mandy a few years ago, I totally geeked out and he knew it, but we just talked about movies and his career and it was all cool.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent opens April 22nd 2022.

New ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore’ Trailer: The War Of Worlds Is Brewing

The teaser trailer released for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore was barely even that. It was more of a “Hey, remember how much you love Harry Potter?” nostalgia piece, meant to celebrate the fans who have stuck with the franchise through 20 years, not to mention Johnny Depp’s scandals and JK Rowling’s idiotic comments.

The latest is more traditional, and follows a brewing war between the forces of good, led by a suave young Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), against the evil Gellert Grindelwald, played now by a third actor, Mads Mikkelsen, who replaces Depp and before him, Colin Farrell. Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, and more return to the cast, as well.

Some retooling was necessary after the second film, The Crimes of Grindelwald failed to excite fans or do particularly well at the box office. The pandemic caused a reshuffling of the release date, along with the addition of Mikkelsen who came in late to replace Depp.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore opens April 5th 2022.

Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?

Golden Globes Nominations Revealed, But Does It Even Matter This Year?

This morning the Hollywood Foreign Press Association revealed the nominees for the 2022 Golden Globes. But…does it matter? I’ll be honest, I’m sorta grappling with this a little bit. The Globes telecast will not be airing this year, as NBC has suspended it due to the voting body’s many indiscretions. And so I’m left to wonder why or if anybody gives two shits about these awards if nobody will be watching them be handed out except maybe in Youtube clips?

But anyway, for the sake of continuity let’s just go ahead and list the nominees below.  Honestly, not a lot of surprises, but I’m happy to see CODA in the Best Picture Drama category, and Licorice Pizza in there for Best Picture Comedy or Musical, along with Cooper Hoffman and Alana Haim in Best Actor categories.

Japanese Trailer For ‘The Batman’ Is Shorter But Has Never Before Seen Footage

THE BATMAN: PART II opens October 1st 2027, but who will direct if not Matt Reeves?

I wouldn’t go so far to say there’s a lot of new footage in this shortened international trailer for The Batman, but there is some. Japanese cuts of trailers tend to be tighter, more focused on delivering the story than just highlighting cool moments, and I would say this version is true to that with new and revealing dialogue from Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight and Paul Dano as Riddler.

It’s interesting this trailer was released now, though, at the same time that rumors of Barry Keoghan possibly playing an iconic Bat-villain have resurfaced. A distraction, maybe? To put more attention on Riddler? I don’t know, judge for yourself.

Below is the trailer and synopsis for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which opens on March 4th 2022.

“Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.”

“When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.”
