There’s a reason why stores such as Toys R Us don’t exist anymore. The toys that we grew up with have been replaced by smartphones, tablets, video games, and other high-tech devices. How are Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and the gang supposed to compete with that? Well, that’s the premise behind Toy Story 5, Pixar’s long-running franchise that never seems to go out-of-date.
Directed by Andrew Stanton, who co-wrote the screenplay with Kenna Harris, Toy Story 5 finds Jessie and Buzz dealing with the arrival of Lilypad, a tablet-like device that has stolen all of Bonnie’s attention away. Meanwhile, Woody is off on his own adventure to help other lost toys find new homes.
Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Tony Hale, Keanu Reeves, Conan O’Brien, Ernie Hudson, and more familiar voices return. Past Lives star Greta Lee joins as the voice of Lilypad.
Toy Story 5 hits theaters on June 19th.
