A Surprising Villain Strikes In New ‘Blue Beetle’ Clip

Blue Beetle arrives in almost exactly one month, and a brief clip has arrived that shows he’ll be facing a villain very familiar to DC Comics readers. The scene shows Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) being blasted through a wall, only to emerge unharmed thanks to the alien suit of armor he’s wearing.

That’s when the extraterrestrial Scarab warns him that OMAC is incoming, and we see the tech-based villain charging his way. To the best of my knowledge, we did not know OMAC was in the movie until now.

While there are different versions of OMAC that are connected in different ways, this one is a cyborg, a human who has been transformed by a nano-virus and tasked with killing all metahumans.

Reyes is expected to be part of James Gunn’s DCU following the release of Superman: Legacy. Just how big a role he plays will likely depend on how Blue Beetle performs when it opens on August 18th.
