Murder mysteries are all the rage right now, but the overly serious ones. It’s the murder comedies that are everywhere, and coming up at TIFF is another one, Adulthood, starring the fun duo of Josh Gad and Kaya Scodelario.
In Adulthood, Gad and Scodelario play siblings who uncover a corpse in their parents’ basement, and everything spirals out of control from there. As it should.
The film is directed by Alex Winter, and if that name sounds familiar, you probably know him best for starring with Keanu Reeves in the Bill & Ted movies. Winter has become a documentarian of some acclaim, directing such films as Downloaded, Zappa, and Deep Web: The Untold Story of Bitcoin and the Silk Road.
Winter also takes a role in Adulthood, along with supporting cast members Billie Lourd and Anthony Carrigan, most recently seen as Metamorpho in Superman.
SYNOPSIS: When siblings Megan and Noah uncover a long-buried corpse in their parents’ basement, they stumble into a wildly escalating spiral of crime, cover-ups, and murder. The deeper they dig, the harder it becomes to escape.
Adulthood hits theaters on September 19th before moving to digital on September 23rd.
