Do people still play Angry Birds? I know when The Angry Birds Movie arrived in 2016, and made a massive $352M, it was the biggest mobile game in the world. I’m not sure that’s still the case. The sequel, released three years later, grossed only $150M but was better received by critics. And now Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3, which has a surprising amount of urine in it.
While the footage might tease a World Cup-influenced story, it’s actually parenting, as Red, voiced again by Jason Sudeikis, deals with being a father. So expect him to deal with disaffected teens, poopie diapers, etc.
Sudeikis is joined in the voice cast by Josh Gad, Emma Myers, Rachel Bloom, Walker Scobell, Danny McBride, Marcello Hernández, Tim Robinson, Anna Cathcart, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Nikki Glaser, MrBeast, Salish Matter, Psalm West, Sam Richardson, James Austin Johnson with Lily James and Keke Palmer.
The film is directed by John Rice, with the previous director Thurop Van Orman having written the screenplay. I’m sure he’s keeping tabs on all of that deep Angry Birds lore.
SYNOPSIS: This holiday season, one angry bird will face his greatest challenge yet, surviving fatherhood… while saving the world!
The Angry Birds Movie 3 hits theaters December 23rd.
