Let the wild speculation begin. Variety reports that Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are getting back together, or perhaps back behind the wheel (?) for a “propulsive” romantic thriller for Amazon MGM Studios. Let the Speed 3 rumors begin now.
Details on the film remain under wraps. What we do know is that it’ll have a script by Noah Oppenheim, best known for writing Jackie, Netflix’s political thriller Zero Day, and for films in the Divergent and The Maze Runner franchises.
Of course, Reeves and Bullock starred in the 1994 action classic Speed. Another key component of the team, producer Mark Gordon, is back for this new film, as well. It’s all starting to sound like more than just another reunion, right? The two did reunite previously for romantic-fantasy The Lake House in 2006, a film that earned $114M. Audiences just love these two together.
And to be clear, both actors have expressed some interest in doing Speed 3 if the opportunity arose. In fact, they did so just last year. Is it happening, though? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see. The choice of director might be the next big clue. I would say probably not, but you can bet that Reeves and Bullock are going to play up the possibility for as long as possible.
