Chris Hemsworth In Talks For ‘Transformers/GI Joe’ Crossover Movie From Paramount And Hasbro

If there’s anything Chris Hemsworth needs, it’s another blockbuster franchise. Following his amazing heel performance in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Hemsworth is reportedly in talks to join Paramount and Hasbro’s Transformers/GI Joe crossover movie.

This is interesting because Hemsworth is already voicing young Optimus Prime in Paramount/Hasbro’s animated movie Transformers One, which opens this September. While it’s doubtful he’s reprising as the Autobot leader in a live-action setting, his role in the new movie is unclear for now. Likely he’ll play a member of the GI Joe team. There’s only one GI Joe member from Australia and that’s Skymate, who is not among the most popular characters.

The Transformers and GI Joe have been interconnected for years, not just as Hasbro toy lines but in various storylines. On the big screen, director Steven Caple Jr. launched the crossover idea in the post-credits of his Transformers: Rise of the Beasts film. For a time it looked as if Caple would direct this, too, but he’s attached to a different Transformers movie now.

Hemsworth is still very much part of the MCU in his role as Thor, and will likely be seen in the upcoming Avengers movies. He also has the Extraction franchise humming along at Netflix. [Deadline]
