‘Ironheart’ Adds Cree Summer To Cast, More Details On Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto Role

This news means a lot more to me now than it would have just a few hours ago. Having just attended a premiere screening of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (my first reaction here) with the MCU debut of Riri Williams, her Ironheart series has just added an actress who was a big part of my childhood. Deadline reports that voice actress and A Different World star Cree Summer has joined the Ironheart cast. Not only that, but there’s more news on Sacha Baron Cohen and his potential role in the series.

It’s unclear what role Summer will play, and whether we’ll see actually see her in live-action or using her vaunted voice skills. She has voiced well over 300 roles in her career, including in Rugrats and Tiny Toon Adventures, but for most of us she’ll be best remembered for playing Freddie on The Cosby Show spinoff A Different World.

As for Cohen, it was only days ago that we learned he could be playing the villain Mephisto in Ironheart. While Marvel has yet to confirm it, Deadline now adds a few details. Cohen is expected to appear in the final two episodes, so episodes 5 and 6. Also, there has been some CGI scanning done, so expect him to arrive with some visual effects wizardry attached.

The Ironheart cast is led by Dominique Thorne, and includes Anthony Ramos, Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, and more. Look for it to hit Disney+ later in 2023.
