In 2007, Amy Adams was becoming a big star but she was nowhere near the actress she would eventually become. She had appeared in numerous success films but it wasn’t until she played the wayward fairy tale princess Giselle in Enchanted that she truly became a superstar. The Disney film, a play on the Mouse House’s many, was a song, dance, and comedy smash earning $340M worldwide. How in the world did it take 15 long years for the sequel, Disenchanted, to finally arrive?
Today at D23, Disney unveiled the first trailer for the long-awaited sequel, Disenchanted. Adams returns as Giselle, the fairy tale princess who made her way into the real world and found her prince, Robert, played by Patrick Dempsey. This new story finds them trading city life for the suburbs, which brings its own share of problems.
Adams and Dempsey return, of course, with James Marsden and Idina Menzel also coming back for more. New additions to the cast include Yvette Nicole Brown, Jayma Mays, and Maya Rudolph.
Behind the camera is Adam Shankman, known for directing musicals Rock of Ages and Hairspray, so he’s a great choice for exactly what’s called for.
Disenchanted will stream exclusively on Disney+ on November 24th.
