A couple of days ago, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal set Tom Holland up for weeks of questions about the character’s future. She began talking about a new trilogy of movies as part of a continued working relationship between Sony and Marvel Studios, although there have been some doubts about whether anything is actually in place. So of course, now Holland has to be asked about it in every single interview, which is what happened with French outlet Quotidien recently…
Holland got fans’ hopes up with his answer when asked about a new trilogy of Spider-Man films, although you can also tell he’s trying not to go too far in his answer…
“Listen, all I’ll say is we have some very, very exciting things to be talking about. I don’t know what those things are or what they will transpire to mean. But it looks like it’s an incredibly bright future ahead, and as I’ve said before, Spider-Man will forever live in me.”
Let’s not be foolish here. Part of the reason Marvel and Sony cast Holland is that he’s young enough to play Spider-Man for a long time. This isn’t over by any stretch. There will be some public negotiating, of course, with Holland talking about other shit he wants to do and Sony making plans without him, but when it’s all done he will be back in some way.
Spider-Man: No Way Home opens in theaters on December 17th.
