Robin Wright has played just about every role there is to play. She’s been a storybook princess in The Princess Bride, the President of the United States in House of Cards, a digital copy of herself in The Congress, the love of Tom Hanks’ life in Forrest Gump, and this week she’ll return as the Amazon warrior Antiope in Wonder Woman 1984. That makes this also the perfect time to drop the trailer for Land, in which Wright takes on a brand new role as director.
Making its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival next month, Land finds Wright as director and star. She plays Edee Mathis, a woman who flees from tragedy into the unforgiving wilderness, only to be returned from the brink of death by a man who might just be her savior. Joining Wright on-screen are Oscar nominee Demian Bichir and Gone Girl‘s Kim Dickens.
The script was collaborated on by Jesse Chatham, Erin Dignam, and The Post co-writer Liz Hannah.
Focus Features will release Land on February 12th 2021.
Edee (Wright), in the aftermath of an unfathomable event, finds herself unable to stay connected to the world she once knew and in the face of that uncertainty, retreats to the magnificent, but unforgiving, wilds of the Rockies. After a local hunter (Demián Bichir) brings her back from the brink of death, she must find a way to live again.
