HBO subscribers have made it clear they aren’t ready to give up on Game of Thrones just yet. The success of House of the Dragon bodes well for the next spinoff series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which just had its first teaser trailer introduced at New York Comic-Con by George R.R. Martin himself.
Based on Martin’s Dunk & Egg novellas, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, centering on the adventures of a lowborn knight and his child squire.
Here’s the synopsis: A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg…Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.
Peter Claffey stars as Dunk, with Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg. They’re joined by Finn Bennett, Bertie Carvel, Tanzyn Crawford, Daniel Ings, and Sam Spruell.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere on HBO on January 18th 2026 and run for six episodes.
