The Ocean’s 11 franchise is alive and well. Just days after George Clooney confirmed that Ocean’s 14 is in the works with shooting to begin next year, now comes word from Deadline that Bradley Cooper is circling a role in the Ocean’s prequel led by Margot Robbie.
If Cooper signs on, he’d be replacing Ryan Gosling, who was going to be reuniting with his Barbie co-star. The news also follows on Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung was announced to be directing the film, replacing Jay Roach. So there’s been quite a lot of movement on this film already.
Robbie is a driving force behind this Ocean’s prequel, as she’ll produce through her LuckyChap label. Carrie Solomon (A Family Affair) wrote the screenplay.
Expect Cooper to be just the first in a star-studded ensemble that will be joining Robbie. Plot details are under wraps, but rumors are that the heist will take place in the 1960s, and possibly center on the parents of George Clooney and Sandra Bullock’s characters.
Coming up next for Cooper is the stand-up comedy film Is This Thing On?, which he directed for stars Will Arnett and Laura Dern. It is set to premiere at NYFF this weekend, and will play at the Middleburg Film Festival locally next week.
