The third season of Apple’s hit, mind-bending series Severance won’t have Ben Stiller behind the camera as he has been in the previous two seasons. Don’t worry, the show isn’t going anywhere. Nor is Stiller likely to be gone forever, but he will be busy with a feature film project that will be chewing up a lot of his time.
Speaking with LA Times, Stiller noted that he’s going to be occupied with other gigs, like the fourth Meet the Parents movie, Focker-In-Law, and an untitled WWII survival movie that “tells the true story of a downed airman in occupied France and how he got involved with the French Resistance.” Stiller is gearing up to shoot in spring 2026.
This would be the first movie Stiller’s directed since Zoolander 2, which was nearly a decade ago!!! Crazy, right? What a forgettable movie. I bet he wouldn’t mind forgetting it, too.
But since then, Stiller has become a force on the television side. 2018’s critically acclaimed miniseries Escape at Dannemora saw him direct and produce each episode. Then came Severance which Stiller has directed of the episodes for. He’s been a huge part of the creative process. The second season just earned a whopping 27 Emmy nominations so Apple isn’t going to let it go anytime soon. While Stiller will miss season 3, don’t be surprised if he’s back when season 4 times rolls around.
