‘Here Comes The Flood’: Denzel Washington, Robert Pattinson, Daisy Edgar-Jones To Lead ‘City Of God’ Director’s Heist Film

Back in 2020 during the early streaming wars, Netflix shelled out seven figures to acquire the script for Here Comes the Flood, a heist thriller from X-Men writer Simon Kinberg. The project has languished ever since, with Jason Bateman nearly directing one aborted attempt. But the wait has been worth it, as THR reports Denzel Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Daisy Edgar-Jones will give it some serious star power.

Washington, Pattinson, and Edgar-Jones will star in Here Comes the Flood for Netflix, which will have Oscar-nominated filmmaker Fernando Meirelles attached. Meirelles is the director behind such acclaimed films as City of God, The Constant Gardener, and The Two Popes. Meirelles is a personal favorite of mine so this news makes me very happy.

The film is reportedly “an unconventional heist movie about a bank guard, a teller, and a master thief in a deadly game of cons and double crosses. The story is said to unfold in a non-linear fashion.”

Coming up for Washington is a Cannes appearance for his role in Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest. He also confirmed his involvement in Black Panther 3, and has a couple of Equalizer sequels in the works. He was most recently seen having a good ol’ time in Gladiator II.

Pattinson has a lot on his plate, as well. He’s currently shooting Christopher Nolan’s summer epic, The Odyssey, and will eventually don the cowl for The Batman 2.

Edgar-Jones can be seen in theaters now in On Swift Horses. She starred in last year’s blockbuster smash, Twisters, as well as Fresh and Where the Crawdads Sing.
