‘Spawn’ Movie Title Revealed As Blumhouse Teases Completed Script

Do you believe in miracles? Because a Spawn movie could actually be close to happening. Two years ago we received the last update on Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, based on his popular Image Comics character, and that was to say new writers had come aboard to hopefully crack the screenplay. Well, they have apparently done their job well, because Blumhouse chief Jason Blum is showing off the completed work.

Blum dropped an image on social media of the script cover page, titled King Spawn, from writers Malcolm Spellman, Matt Mixon, and Scott Silver.

You’ll note that MacFarlane’s name is nowhere to be found. The legendary comic book creator had planned to write and direct Spawn, but that was clearly going nowhere. He took a step back from scripting when the other writers were hired. It’s unclear if he still plans to direct.

Blum has high hopes for Spawn, though. He recently told Comicbook.com that he hopes for the film to open in 2025…

“I would say you have a lot to hope for because it’s in very very active development,” Blum said. “What needs to happen is that my fellow friends the writers and the studios need to figure out their differences and get back to writing, but we’ve got a great group of folks putting it together, and my hope is that that movie — my prediction is maybe we’ll actually see a Spawn movie in ’25. No promises, but that’s my prediction.”

There’s still one more lingering question: What about Jamie Foxx?? Foxx has been attached to the Spawn role for years, but it’s a mystery whether he continues to be involved. The wait has been a long one, and he may have moved on. We may hear more news on this soon.
