‘Greedy People’ Trailer: Joseph Gordon-Levitt And Himesh Patel Are Corrupt Cops In New Dark Comedy

You’ll have to excuse me for not finding it funny to have a “dark comedy” about a cop who kills an innocent then covers that shit up. It happens too often for real for me to laugh it. But the folks behind Greedy People are hoping you have a different sense of humor than me, and besides, the film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Himesh Patel which is sure to hook a few viewers in.

Directed by Potsy Ponciroli, the film follows a rookie cop in a sleepy South Carolina town, who with his rogue partner try to cover up a murder of their own making and the discovery of a million dollar in cash.

Gordon-Levitt and Patel are joined in the cast by Lily James, Tim Blake Nelson, Uzo Aduba, Traci Lords, Joey Lauren Adams, and Simon Rex.

SYNOPSIS: In this darkly comedic crime thriller, rookie cop Will (Himesh Patel) and his rogue partner Terry (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) upend their small island town when they accidentally discover one million dollars at a crime scene (of their own making). After the duo unwisely decides to steal the money, the community’s quirky residents are lured into the mad dash for cash — ranging from an expectant mom (Lily James) to a masseur (Simon Rex) to a shrimp company owner (Tim Blake Nelson) — and everyone learns just how far they are willing to go for the almighty dollar.

Greedy People opens in theaters on August 23rd.
