‘Space Cadet’ Trailer: Emma Roberts Tricks Her Way Into NASA In Prime Video’s New Comedy

It’s been too long since Emma Roberts got to show off her comedy chops (this year’s Madame Web was unintentionally funny), but she’ll get to do just that in Space Cadet. The Prime Video comedy sends Roberts into NASA’s astronaut program where hilarity ensues in zero gravity.

Written and directed by Liz W. Garcia (The Lifeguard, One Percent More Humid), Space Cadet finds Roberts as Tiffany “Rex” Simpson, who has always wanted to be a NASA astronaut since she was a kid. But life has not turned out as planned, so with the help of a friend she sends in a phony resume to NASA’s astronaut training program. When she gets approved, Rex must prove that she actually belongs there, whether she deserves it or not.

“This is one of my favorite scripts I’ve ever read! It reminded me of Legally Blonde and Private Benjamin,” Roberts recently told Cosmopolitan about the film.

Also in the cast are Tom Hopper, Poppy Liu and Gabrielle Union, Kuhoo Verma, Desi Lydic, Sebastián Yatra, Yasha Jackson, Andrew Call, Troy Iwata, Josephine Huang, Dave Foley, Sam Robards, and Joshua Harto.

SYNOPSIS: Tiffany “Rex” Simpson (Emma Roberts) has always dreamed of going to space, but life isn’t going quite as planned. Determined to turn things around, she aims high and with the embellishing touch of her supportive best friend Nadine (Poppy Liu), her “doctored” application lands her in NASA’s ultra-competitive astronaut training program. In over her head, Rex relies on her quick wits, moxie and determination to get to the top of her class. NASA program directors Pam (Gabrielle Union) and Logan (Tom Hopper) certainly take notice, but can this Florida girl get through training and into the cosmos before she blows her cover? Written and directed by Liz W. Garcia (“Purple Hearts,” “The Sinner”), Space Cadet is a comedy about the power of being yourself, following your dreams and shooting for the stars.

Space Cadet hits Prime Video on July 4th.
