‘Agent Elvis’ Trailer: The King Is A Deadly Secret Agent Voiced By Matthew McConaughey In Netflix’s Animated Series

As we wait to find out if Austin Butler will win Best Actor for his performance as “the King” in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, a more bizarre take on Presley is right around the corner. Matthew McConaughey will voice Presley in Agent Elvis, an animated series that, you guessed it, reimagines him as a secret agent.

Seriously. In Agent Elvis, the King of Rock ‘N Roll is a top covert agent, like 007 with better outfits and a pair of blue suede shoes. Oh, and a monkey. He also has a gun-toting monkey. Elvis spies for the US government while maintaining his music career.

This bizarre concoction was co-created by Priscilla Presley and rocker John Eddie, with the latter acting as co-showrunner alongside Mike Arnold.

What is it about Elvis that people like to dream up the weirdest ways to reimagine him? I’m thinking of Bubba Ho-Tep as just one example, but there are many others. That said, I kinda dig McConaughey as the voice of Elvis. He’d never work playing Elvis in live-action, but in animated form he’s kinda perfect.

Agent Elvis (formerly Agent King) hits Netflix in March.
