Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ Sets October Release

Finally. While we suspected that Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon would be released in time for awards season, Paramount and Apple have just made it official. The crime film will hit select theaters on October 6th, with a wider release on October 20th. It will eventually get a streaming release on Apple TV+.

The film is based on David Grann’s non-fiction book, and centers on the investigation into a series of murders in the 1920s of wealthy members of the Osage tribe for their oil rights.

Leonardo DiCaprio leads the cast, joined by Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, and recent Oscar winner Brendan Fraser. Eric Roth adapted the screenplay.

Variety adds that a Cannes debut is possible depending on Scorsese’s availabilty. Whether it shows up there or not, Killers of the Flower Moon is a big deal film that could get Scorsese back into the Oscars discussion.
