Zach Galifianakis Cast In Disney’s Live-Action ‘Lilo & Stitch’

Disney has moved up from adapting their fairy tale classics to more modern hits, and one of those that has proved most enduring is 2002’s Lilo & Stitch. The girl-meets-alien film is a multimedia juggernaut, and last summer we learned that a live-action film was on the way from Marcel the Shell with Shoes On director Dean Fleischer Camp. And now the film has landed its first big star; Zach Galifianakis.

THR confirms that Galifianakis has landed a role in the Lilo & Stitch film although his role is unclear. Seems like he’d be a pretty good Stitch, though, right? The story centers on a girl named Lilo as she and her sister cope with the loss of their parents. Her life gets turned upside down when a chaotic blue alien crash lands on their Hawaiian island home, and Lilo adopts him. The original film was co-directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois, the latter then going on to create the How to Train Your Dragon franchise that is also being turned to live-action.

Next up for Galifianakis are The Beanie Bubble about the Beanie Baby boom, and Reality Winner drama Winner.
