‘Extrapolations’ Trailer: Scott Z. Burns’ Star-Studded Apple Series Look At Climate Change’s Impact On Humanity

Scott Z. Burns is unusually good at depicting humanity on the brink of disaster, and showing the consequences when nothing is done to stop it. His script for Contagion is just one example, but he does the same with the drug crisis in Side Effects and economics in The Laundromat. And now he turns his attention to climate change with the 8-episode series, Extrapolations, which hits Apple TV+ next month.

Starring Meryl Streep, Marion Cotillard, Sienna Miller, Kit Harington, Daveed Diggs, Edward Norton, Tahar Rahim, Yara Shahidi, Matthew Rhys, and Gemma Chan, Extrapolations takes us into the near future and a planet threatened by climate change. What’s different about this series is that it jumps forward in time at different stages to show climate change’s impact on humanity over the years. Suffice it to say, our way of life will be severely altered.

Burns’ last film, 2019’s The Report, was one of the best of that year. If Extrapolations is half as good we could be looking at a potential Emmy winner. We’ll find out when the series hits Apple TV+ on March 17th.
