A beautiful destination wedding, a group of happy friends there to celebrate the brides-to-be, aaaaaand one baby dropped on its poor little soft head. Kinda kills the mood, doesn’t it? Well, this is exactly what goes down in Hulu’s upcoming comedy, The Drop, from director co-writer Sarah Adina Smith.
Bringing this awkward moment to life is an incredible comedic ensemble that includes Anna Konkle, Jermaine Fowler, Robin Thede, Aparna Nancherla, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Jennifer Lafleur, and Elisha Henig.
Not to be left out are Jillian Bell and co-writer Joshua Leonard, who play resort hosts and married couple Lindsey and Josh, who have given up life in the city for an escape into nature. But it isn’t all they hoped it would be, and with the wedding and the “incident”, tensions begin to escalate.
I’m a gigantic fan of both Bell and Leonard, so to get a chance to speak with both of them was a real treat. They talk about coming aboard The Drop, its inspiration as a female spin on Force Majeure, and the creation of their kooky characters with scenes improvised right there on the spot.
The Drop is streaming on Hulu now. Check out my review here and the interview with Bell and Leonard below!
