‘Lockwood & Co.’ Teaser: Joe Cornish’s Ghost-Hunting Detective Series Hits Netflix In January

Finally, one of the most promising news stories from a couple of years ago is bearing fruit. In May 2020 we learned that Edgar Wright and his creative partner Joe Cornish would be developing numerous projects for Netflix. One of those was a series, Lockwood & Co., that would be led by Cornish and based on the beloved Jonathan Stroud books.

The first teaser for Lockwood & Co. is here, and it looks to make the best use of Cornish’s ability to craft kid-friendly fare with an edge, just as he did with Attack the Block years ago. A haunting detective series, the show centers on a girl with psychic abilities who joins a ghost-hunting agency with two other gifted teens.  And as you can see from the footage, which looks like part of a full scene, these aren’t friendly ghosts like Slimer or those mini Stay Pufts from Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Starring Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, and Ali Hadji-Heshmati, Lockwood & Co. hits Netflix on January 27th 2023.

A girl with extraordinary psychic abilities joins two gifted teen boys at a small ghost-hunting agency to fight the many deadly spirits haunting London.
