‘Spirit Halloween’ Trailer: The Strip Mall Pop-Up Chain Has Its Own Horror Movie Now

Spirit Halloween. You’ve seen them in your local shopping mall, assuming you still have shopping malls in your area since most are ghost towns now. Actually, Spirit Halloween pop-up stores are one of the few reliable things keeping malls alive during the fall season, selling inexpensive, quality Halloween items for your high school’s haunted house fundraiser. But a horror movie called Spirit Halloween that’s based on the stores? Eh. Tough to get excited about it, really.

However, one look at the trailer and…y’know? It doesn’t look too bad. The story is simple enough: a group of kids get trapped in a haunted Spirit Halloween store. It kind of has a Goosebumps or Fear Street quality to it that could make this a straight-to-VOD favorite in a couple of months. Plus, it’s tough to hate anything that brings Rachael Leigh Cook back into the spotlight, joined by the great Christopher Lloyd, The Jeffersons legend Marla Gibbs, plus Donovan Colvan, Marissa Reyes, Jaiden J. Smith, Dylan Martin Frankel, and Brad Carter.

Directed by David Poag, Spirit Halloween hits VOD on October 11th.
