‘Rogue One’ IMAX Re-Release Set Ahead Of ‘Andor’ Debut On Disney+

There are a lot of movies that I’ve seen in theaters a lot of times, but none recently that I’ve paid to see more than Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. And I’ll be able to see it theatrically for the sixth time as Lucasfilm has teamed up with IMAX for a special re-release of the Star Wars prequel beginning on August 26th in 150 IMAX theaters for one week.

The re-release leads up to the Disney+ streaming debut of spinoff series, Andor, with Diego Luna reprising his role as Rebel spy Cassian Andor. The series will launch with the first three episodes on September 21st. There are twelve episodes in total.

Rogue One was a smash hit when it was released in 2016. Directed by Gareth Evans and written by Andor‘s Tony Gilroy, the film earned over $1B at the box office. It saw the introduction of other Andor characters including Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma. Alan Tudyk will return as Andor’s loyal robot pal K-2SO, but not until the second season. Also in the Andor cast are Denise Gough, Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd, Kyle Soller, and Adria Arjona. Ben Mendelsohn has been rumored to return as Orson Callan Krennic.

Tickets are on sale now and you can get them right here.
