‘Warrior Nun’, ‘1899’, ‘Wednesday’, And More Revealed As Part Of Netflix Geeked Week 2022

Netfix Geeked Week 2022 has officially kicked off today and will run until this Friday, June 10th. The first day has been filled with all kinds of juicy news of upcoming new and returning series to be featured on Netflix. Here’s what’s coming up :

Monday, June 6th – A fully loaded day of all kinds of goodness coming to Netflix!

Wednesday : Jenna Ortega IS Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s upcoming spooky live-action series.

In a new teaser released on Monday, Ortega (YOU, Jane the Virgin) is as woeful as they come while teasing Tim Burton’s twisted take on the beloved franchise. Catherine Zeta-Jones stars as Addams family matriarch Morticia, while Luis Guzmán will portray Gomez. The cast also includes Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, George Burcea as Lurch and Game of Thrones alum Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems, the principal of Nevermore Academy who still has an axe to grind with former classmate Morticia.

Wednesday is written by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, who will also serve as showrunners and executive producers. Burton will direct and executive-produce alongside Kayla Alpert, Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Kevin Miserocchi, Jonathan Glickman and Gail Berman.

Cabinet of Curiosities : Is an upcoming Netflix Original horror anthology series created by Guillermo del Toro. J. Miles Dale, the producer of del Toro’s academy award-winning The Shape of Water will work on the Original as an executive producer, alongside Gary Ungar.

With the series in post-production since February 2022, Cabinet of Curiosities is expected to arrive on Netflix before the end of 2022. There is a good chance that the horror anthology will arrive in Fall 2022 as a part of Netflix’s Halloween line-up.

The Midnight Club : The new Netflix series from The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan will premiere on Friday, October 7.

Based on the Christopher Pike YA novel, The Midnight Club centers on a tight-knit group of terminally ill young adults who live in a hospice run by a mysterious doctor. Flanagan serves as showrunner and EP, along with co-creator Leah Fong. The cast includes several Flanagan-verse veterans like Samantha Sloyan and Zach Gilford, along with Nightmare on Elm Street legend Heather Langenkamp as the doctor.

The Imperfects : Netflix’s new coming-of-age series that follows a group of young adults, all of whom were unethically experimented on in their youth by a mad scientists. The experiments give them all abnormal powers that they can’t really control and they decide to hunt down the scientist who experimented on them and make him pay. But while they’re searching for the scientist, a powerful government agency is also hunting them down too.

The show stars Iñaki Godoy, Morgan Taylor Campbell (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist)and Rhianna Jagpal (To All The Boys: Always and Forever), along with Italia Ricci and Rhys Nicholson. The new series is expected to drop later this year.

Sweet Tooth – Season 2: Filming for season 2 has officially wrapped!

The charming apocalypse tale was renewed for a second outing back in July 2021 after rave reviews from critics and audiences along with strong viewership numbers at the streamer. While there’s no release date yet, the wrap on filming assures the second season isn’t far off.

Christian Covery, Nonso Anozie, and James Brolin were joined in the series by Naledi MurrayAdeel AkhtarAliza VellaniStefania LaVieDania RamirezNeil Sandilands, and Will ForteJim Mickle will return as showrunner and executive producer for Season 2, though this time without his co-showrunner Beth SchwartzSusan Downey and Robert Downey Jr. will both executive produce alongside Amanda Burrell and Linda Moran.

Locke and Key – 3rd and Final Season : the Netflix series will conclude eight episodes and the final season will premiere the on August 10th. The show will follow the Locke siblings after their father’s mysterious death, as they try to retrieve all the magical Keys that set off a horde of evil forces willing to take possession of them.

Fate: The Winx Saga – Season 2 :  is a Netflix original teen fantasy drama series based on the extremely popular cartoon series Winx Club.

Created by Brian Young (who will return for season 2), the directing duties were split between three directors, Lisa James Larsson, Hannah Quinn, and Stephen Woolfenden. The series is a collaboration between Archery Pictures, Rainbow S.p.A., and Young Blood Productions. Coming to Netflix globally this fall 2022.

Shadow and Bone – Season 2 : filming has officially wrapped!

Shadow and Bone is based on the series of books within the Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo, the first season of the show dropped on Netflix on April 23rd, 2021. Among the cast for the first season included Ben Barnes, Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, and Kit Young. Release date is still unknown but could drop end of 2022 or early 2023.

Manifest – 4th and Final season : officially confirmed that the 20-episode farewell run will be released in two parts of 10 episodes and is expected to drop Fall 2022. Let’s hope that the surviving members of Flight 828 finally find out the truth of what happened to them.

Vikings Valhalla –  2 more Seasons! : Netflix has confirmed in its renewal announcement that the second set of episodes had already filmed in 2021 and the 3rd season has been confirmed as well. While no official trailers for either yet, Seasons 2 and 3 are most likely going to be released sometime in 2023.

Barbarians –  Season 2 : Confirmed for a second season, the show will be filming six 45-minutes episodes in n Krakow, Poland. The German Netflix historical drama created by Jan Martin Scharf and Arne Nolting was among the most popular series of the streaming giant in 2020. It covers the bloody Battle of the Teutoburg Forest when Germanic warriors blocked the northward advance of the Roman Empire in A.D. 9

There is no current trailer for the upcoming season yet but is expected to be released Fall 2022.

All of Us Are Dead – Season 2 : Netflix has renewed the hit Korean drama series for a second season. There has been skyrocketing interest in Korean dramas in the wake of Squid Game‘s phenomenal success. After its premiere,All of Us Are Deadshot straight into the top 10 most watched non-English TV series in 91 countries and stayed there for two consecutive weeks. It also drew 361 million viewing hours in its first 10 days. No release date is for season 2 is unknown as of yet.

Alice in Borderland – Season 2 : While not everyone can return from the first season of Alice in Borderland, it looks like Kento Yamazaki, Tao Tsuchiya, Nijiro Murakami, Aya Asahina, and Riisa Naka will return, and fans should be eager to see what the show has in store for their characters moving forward. Ayaka Miyoshi, Dori Sakurada, and Sho Aoyagi joined the cast for season 2. The series second season will release December 2022.

One PieceNetflix has a new live action fantasy adventure series currently in production. The brief teaser included an introduction to the series’ showrunners as well as Luffy himself, Iñaki Godoy, before looking into the sets the crew is building for the series. More importantly, those sets include some extremely large ships, where many scenes will be filmed.

This new series follows the story of Monkey D. Luffy, an aspiring pirate captain who wants to travel the dangerous Grand Line in search of a mythical treasure called One Piece. But to find the treasure, Luffy must first assemble the best pirate crew he can. The crew includes the cast of Nami (Emily Rudd), Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), Sanji (Taz Skyler), and Usopp (Jacob Gibson). The series will also feature Peter Gadiot as Shanks.

Resident Evil : The end of the world has arrived! The Resident Evil official trailer reveals that this live action series will premiere Thursday, July 14 on Netflix.

Survivors battle their way through an apocalypse that can be traced back to the Umbrella Corporation. The company’s new antidepressant Joy contained the t-Virus, which essentially turns those infected into zombies. And it’s not just affecting people; the Joy drug has unleashed terrifying evil of different forms into the world.

Set in the year 2036, 14 years after Joy has caused so much pain, the eight-episode series follows Jade Wesker (played by Charlie’s Angels’ Ella Balinska) in her fight for survival.

The series also stars Lance Reddick (Fringe), Tamara Smart (ITV’s The Worst Witch), Siena Agudong (No Good Nick), Adeline Rudolph (RiverdaleChilling Adventures of Sabrina), Paola Nuñez (TV’s The Purge), Ahad Raza Mir (Pakistan’s Hum Tum), Connor Gossatti and Turlough Convery (Sanditon).

Showrunner and executive producer Andrew Dabb (Supernatural) wrote the series alongside fellow EP Mary Leah Sutton (Tell Me a Story, The Following). Robert Kulzer (who produced the Resident Evil films starring Milla Jovovich) and Oliver Berben also executive-produce through their production company Constantin Film.

1899 : this new Netflix series that is led by the popular series Dark creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, 1899 is vastly different on the surface, but still retains the creative pair’s penchant for unpredictable weirdness.

The eight-episode series follows the intriguing circumstances surrounding an immigrant ship’s passage from Europe to New York. The travelers, who come from all origins and countries, are brought together by their hopes and dreams for the new century and their future overseas. Their quest takes an unexpected turn when they uncover a second ship adrift on the open sea that had been missing for months. What they discover onboard will transform their journey to the promised land into a nightmare-like conundrum, intertwining each passenger’s past through a web of secrets. 1899 is expected to be released Fall 2022.

The Sandman : Neil Gaiman’s infamous and highly anticipated 1993 comicbook series- turned live action will premiere on Netflix August 5th!

The Sandman follows Dream, a being who is also called Morpheus and is the king of dreams. In this world, Dream is one of the seven Endless, powerful beings who personify concepts like Death, Destiny, Despair, and Desire.

The incredibly diverse and well suited cast includes Tom Sturridge as Dream, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, and Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne. The series also features Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, Charles Dance as Roderick Burgess, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, David Thewlis as John Dee, Stephen Fry as Gilbert, and Patton Oswalt as the voice of Matthew the Raven. Let’s not forget the talents of Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Mason Alexander Park, and Donna Preston.

The Umbrella Academy – Season 3 : Season 3 will take the members of the Umbrella Academy to a different timeline, where their adoptive father, Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore), created another superhero team, the Sparrows. Season three will release on June 22nd, 2022.

The new trailer is filled with delicious set pieces where the two groups of siblings attack each other with their wacky superpowers. It reveals that another apocalypse is coming  and The Umbrella Academy has just a few days to stop it while dealing with the alternate timeline of the Sparrow Academy.

The Umbrella Academy brings back Tom Hopper as Luther, David Castañeda as Diego, Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison, Robert Sheehan as Klaus, Aidan Gallagher as Five, Elliot Page as Viktor, and Justin H. Min as Ben. The new cast members of Season 3 include Justin Cornwell, Britne OldfordJake EpsteinGenesis Rodriguez, Cazzie David, and Javon Walton.

Warrior Nun – Season 2 : This series is based on the comic book character Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn, Warrior Nun first dropped onto our screens in July 2020.

The new teaser trailer features a recap of season 1 as well as some new clips from the forthcoming second season with the new villain of the new season being Adriel. Season two is expected to release Winter 2022.

First Kill : It has been confirmed that the first season of First Kill will have a total of eight episodes with each episode is confirmed to have a runtime of approximately 60 minutes. The series will premier of Friday, June 10th.

Going bold and conforming to modern times, this series is an upcoming Netflix Original fantasy teen drama that features some LGTBQ+ strong female leads. Teenage vampire Juliette (Sarah Catherine Hook, American Crime Story), who sets her sights on new girl Calliope (Lewis) when it’s time to make her first kill. It’s a move that will help her come of age in her vampire family, which is helmed by her mom, Margot (Elizabeth Mitchell, Lost), and dad, Sebastian (Will Swenson). Juliette, however, doesn’t realize that Calliope isn’t a regular human — she’s a hunter from a family of monster slayers along with her mother, Talia (Aubin Wise), and dad, Jack (Jason R. Moore, The Punisher). For her part, Calliope has also been encouraged to make her first kill. Matters become even more complicated when these two enemies who are supposed to kill each other begin to fall for each other.
