‘Resurrection’ Teaser: Tim Roth Is Rebecca Hall’s Worst Nightmare

IFC Films has dropped the teaser for one of the creepiest, and downright weirdest, films to emerge from Sundance this year. Resurrection is a psychological thriller starring Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth, about a single mom and powerhouse corporate exec who goes a bit crazy when a mysterious man from her past starts showing up everywhere. If only it were that simple, but then nothing is simple about this diabolical film from writer/director Andrew Semans.

Fortunately, too much isn’t given away in this footage. We see Margaret (Hall) leaving behind an ominous message for her stubborn daughter, Abbie (Grace Kaufman), but we also see her high-powered job and seemingly perfect life. That’s all disrupted when she sees David (Roth), a man from her past that she’d like to forget. The mere sight of him sends Margaret on a downward spiral that takes some insane twists and turns.

Do your best to go into this one as cold as possible because Semans is relentless in throwing surprises at you. This is a double-edge sword, as I note in my review from earlier this year.

Resurrection opens in theaters and VOD on August 5th, followed by an exlusive Shudder run this November.
